Welcome to our website! We're a family of four who traveled around the world for almost a year (August of 2007 through June of 2008). Why gives you the background on what led us to this adventure. We used this website to update people on our whereabouts, and you can use it now to find out where we went and what each place was like for us.

If you're interested in checking out any of the 37 countries we visited on our trip, go to our Itinerary. This page lays out our entire trip, and links to our blogs and photos for each destination. You can quickly see what we thought of the place, and the photos will give you a feel for what's it like to explore a location. We are also keeping a running set of lists, including our List of Trip Favorites.

We have a few things you can check out to get a feel for our trip. We have a short photo gallery of some of our best pictures at Holiday Card Photo Gallery. And we have a set of short slideshows that capture dimensions of our trip. They're short, and fun to watch with kids, and the most popular include:

Come Away is a five minute overview of our trip.

Why? presents some of the challenges that the world faces going forward, and what we need to do.

Wild Thing shows some of the most exotic animals we saw on our trip. This video is always a hit with kids!

Baseball is about the baseball get-togethers we had in ten different countries around the world.

There are several other videos on the site which some of you might enjoy. Kids particularly like Passionate Kisses, Defying Gravity, Take My Chances, and Our Best Trip Videos. And we have presentations of the best rainbows, skies, people, and architectures we saw. A few others involve world-schooling and flat-out awesome sites.

And our son's wildlife adventures are reported on at http://www.gibsonswildlife.com.

Our trip around the world ran in parallel with another important journey for our family. We worked hard over the past two years to help Barack Obama, and are thrilled with the election results. We reflect on this experience at why we support Barack. Also, his Election Day speech referred to the front porches of Charleston, a reference near and dear to our hearts.

Wishing you a very adventurous best!
